Major Projects Partners

An introduction to the partners responsible for the creation of the Major Projects website.

Campbell River and District Chamber of Commerce

The Major Projects: Campbell River website was developed by the Campbell River Chamber to support our local businesses, inform and engage major project proponents and prime contractors and leverage economic development opportunities that result from major construction projects in our community and surrounding area. This website, developed in consultation with business and community leaders representing local and regional business and community organizations, is an example of the Chamber’s commitment to being the 'Voice of Business’.

As the 'Voice of Business’, the Campbell River & District Chamber of Commerce is the community’s leading advocate and champion for business. We provide leadership opportunities and business-building initiatives that focus on the critical priorities of our members and community.

By leveraging the support, talents and resources of our members, the Campbell River Chamber connects our members and creates a climate of growth and success in our community.

BC Hydro

For over 60 years BC Hydro has and continues to be a large part of the community with it’s John Hart facilities and lands surrounded by the Elk Falls Provincial Park. Starting around summer 2013, and continuing for about five years, BC Hydro is proposing to embark on the busiest construction period since the facilities were first built. This project, and BC Hydro’s desire for local communities to benefit economically from such large construction projects has provided both catalyst and funding to develop new tools of communication, allowing communities to showcase their available skill pool directly to the Bidding Teams.

Through Community Investment, we connect people and communities who share our interest in building an energy conservation culture. We support organizations that are active in one of our key funding areas: environmental sustainability, youth education and community leadership. This Major Projects: Campbell River portal is one example of our support of community leadership, innovation and economic growth. BC Hydro is fostering economic development.

Vancouver Island Economic Alliance

The Vancouver Island Economic Alliance (VIEA) has over the last 5 years promoted and facilitated a collaborative approach to Economic Development on Vancouver Island. Collaboration at the regional level allows local governments (and others) to work together to achieve common goals or address common needs and potential partners including First Nations, community groups and private sector organizations. Taking a regional approach also offers the opportunity to access additional sources of funding that would otherwise not be available.

VIEA’s partnership on this major project portal is a natural fit as it has the potential to bring together industry, businesses, organizations and individuals through out Vancouver Island by creating a vehicle that will ease communication and information exchange initially on the John Hart Project but eventually on other major projects through out Vancouver Island. A working model of how everyone benefits by people working together.
